Hello everyone

VERY GOOD NEWS!
As you may noticed was my service extremely slow the last few weeks/months. I receive over a half million emails a day. All the performance problems are history now.
I improved my service. I spent some hours to develop a special application for my mail server. Now it performs awesome! I hope you will be happy with it. The mails are within 1 or 2 seconds in the inbox after they have been sent. So I'm totally sure that temporaryinbox.com is again the fastest disposable email address service in the internet.

12.07.07 - Forwarding problems

my server has some problems at the moment.

for all computer scientists in here:
there are so many used sockets at the moment that the server reached its limit. so it has some problems to connect to the mail servers. another problem is the high load at the moment. the cpu usage is almost the whole time at 95% - 100%. (I run 3 big websites on this server). so during the conversation between my server and the other mail server (to deliver the mails) it takes too long to respond. so the mail servers disconnect and temporaryinbox.com can't deliver the emails. The emails aren't lost. It just takes ages to deliver. I do my best to fix this problem.

I had to remove the afrobacon.com domain from the service because the domain has expired and the owner didn't tell me. So it hasn't been working for a while maybe. I just got the hint that it doesn't work anymore. So I removed it immediately.

20.03.07 - Important News!

Today I added a new domain mx0.wwwnew.eu.

In the near future I'll change almost every domain. Because there's too much traffic, which my server has to handle. There are approximately 450'000 emails per day. Probably 350'000 emails are just spam. So I decided to remove some of the domains in the future and replace them with others. So pay attention you don't use these email addresses for too important things. I can only guarantee that the domains temporaryinbox.com and temporaryforwarding.com will exist forever but domains like put2.net, senseless-entertainment.com and so on will be replaced.

I think I can't recover the old temporary forwardings. I'm very sorry about that. I had a backup. But this was also corrupt. Bad huh?
But now I use a new backup method. I hope the next time the data won't get lost again.

For all those people who had a temporary forwarding. Please create it again. Before somebody else creates it and maybe gets emails which are intended for you.

18.01.07 - Very bad news. Database problems!!!

I'm having very bad database problems. At the moment all temporary forwardings are gone. I try to restore them from backups. But I think it will take some time. I'm very sorry about that. I had to setup the whole database from zero.
The database was so corrupt that I couldn't fix it anymore ...

- added a separate toolbar button
- now you can set various things via the options in the add-on manager
- moved the language drop down menu from the toolbar to the options window. Now you can set the language there and it will be stored. So it won't jump back to its default value every time.

In the last few weeks I got many emails concerning the extension functions.
The most people wished functions like these:

- no toolbar only the context menu
- no "visit temporaryinbox.com" in the context menu
- nicer toolbar ;)
- a smaller toolbar
- separate toolbar button
- an option to set the default language in the toolbar because the dropdown menu jumps each start to its default setting (en)

I'll do my best to integrate all wishes into the next big release "Temporary Inbox Extension 2.0"

The last few days a spammer sent many emails with a spoofed email address header. He used a temporary email address as the reply address. So it looks like the spam is from temporaryinbox.com but temporaryinbox.com would never send spam emails ;)

The provider of the origin is informed. If you got spam emails send me an email with the complete email address header.

My service recieved yesterday the 3 millionth email since the start of temporaryinbox.com in may 2006.
That's quite a lot for me. I never thought that my service will be used so much.
About 240'000 users visited temporaryinbox.com. And now I have daily about 2000+ users.
I can just guess how many people installed my firefox extension I think it are about 80'000 users.

10.10.06 - Server problems (20h down time)

My server crashed due to a blackout in the data centre of my provider. After they solved the power problem my server still couldn't start because of some other problems. But now after 20!!! hours it is up and running again.

Just few days ago i released the version 1.4. Now is a new version available.

changelog:

- some small improvements
- one new big feature called "masquerade domains". Now you can use email addresses @put2.net and @senseless-entertainment.com as well. Checking the inbox is still the same as with the @temporaryinbox.com. Just enter the account name to check it. This is to make it harder for the webmasters to block the temporaryinbox.com service. First they have to find out, that temporaryinbox.com uses new domains ;);)
Now if you press the "Random email" button in the toolbar it will generate addresses with @temporaryinbox.com, @put2.net and @senseless-entertainment.com. So don't be confused!!!

More and more websites are blocking the temporaryinbox.com domain for their registration forms. So you can't use temporaryinbox.com email addresses because they are blocked.

Now the idea:
Do you have some unused domains and you would point the domain to my server?
Then contact me -> admin@put2.net
So I could integrate the domain into the TemporaryInbox.com mail server. Then you can send mails to somename@yourdomain.com and check the emails on temporaryinbox.com.
So it's getting harder and harder for the webmasters to block all those domains.

So please contact me if you have some unused domains. THANKS!!

New Firefox extension version released

Some of you didn't like the extra toolbar in Firefox. So i decided to add a context menu entry. Now you can disable the toolbar and create temporary email addresses via context menu. Just right click on a text field and select "insert a temporary email address". Isn't that nice? :)
